Polish sailor Korchinsky (Horst Buchholz) visits his girlfriend whilst on shore leave in Tiger Bay (Cardiff). An argument develops between them and he ends up murdering her. All this is witness by the girl from the flat upstairs, Gillie (Hayley Mills) who was watching through the letterbox. A friendship then develops between the sailor and Gillie and when the Police Detective, played by John Mills (Hayley's father) investigates the crime, Gillie hinders him at every possible opportunity.

My comments
Rating 9/10
Hayley's first film and I think one of her best. The relationship between the Gillie and the murderer develops well during the film. Also the way Gillie tries to hinder the Police detective works well. If you only see a handful of Hayley's films make sure you see this one.
