Solent Shipping is one shipping enthusiasts attempt to produce a website that might appeal to other shipping enthusiasts in the Solent area. Originally, just a collection of photographs it has been expanded to the site you see today. Careful studying of the excellent Where's My Ship page from DP World has meant that some basic understanding of the container shipping routes and the ships that operate them has been obtained and that data is presented here. Movements of vehicle carriers and general cargo ships are proving a lot more difficult to calculate, but plans are for sections on them.

This site uses data from the websites of DP Word and Southampton VTS together with various other sources, personal observations and ship plotting websites such as Marine Traffic and Vessel Finder.
